7:30 AM - 8:30 AM Wednesday with breakfast by Encore Performance Catering, fellowship, project updates and an interesting speaker from the community. The last Wednesday of some months we meet at 6:00pm at a local restaurant for hors d'oeuvres and a no host bar and meeting new people. Please check our website calendar for details.

Last Week's Program:

President David introduced Dr. Loren Ros to speak to us about his work as a cosmetic surgeon.

Loren grewa up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada graduated from the University of Manitoba and received an M.D. in general surgery. He has practiced in Burlingame for 22 years and is a member of the Rotary Club of Burlingame.

Loren presented a slide show of face lifts. He showed us good ones, bad ones and some that were downright funny, especially the "before and after" ones, including one of himself at age 10 and as a practicing cosmetic surgeon. The one on liposuction was hilarious. His work on cleft palette patients shows him to be a true artist.

His talk turned into a lecture on "the Healthy LIfe" with lines like "exercise is none negotiable" and "coffee is a health food, 1 cup = 1 basket of blue berries! And "less carbs!" and "EAT breakfast, the most important meal of your day!" Lack of sleep is a national epidemic and "move around, not too much - 30 minutes 4 time a week." She showed a picture of a young woman on the beach with skin that looked like old wrinkled black leather and said "What are these people thinking of?"

He had a lot to say and talked so fast I had a hard time taking notes.

Dean Babcock will speak on "California Water - Supply and Demand." If you think Califonia does not have a water problem , you haven't been reading a newspaper or your mail!
