This Week's Program: The Bennetts on Bali
Sue and Don Bennett are back from Bali and will talk about their life and Rotary work there. They will also show a short video.
Last Week's Program: (courtesy of Last Week Editor, Dean Babcock) Past President Sandie Pugh introduced Barry Wilbanks, Co-Moderator of the Woodside Village Church and also a Realtor with Coldwell-Banker, specializing in church properties. Barry was born in Atlanta, GA and migrated to Oklahoma. He studied divinity in the Ozarks. He is still married to his first wife and has a son who is also is a minister.
Barry said “Rotary and WVC are blessed to be a blessing to others”. The first WVC, which still stands at the front of the pre-school, is from the late 1800’s and cost $1200! The Sunday school was started in 1893. The new church-with its serene stained glass windows- was sanctified in 1961. The church has a well rounded musical program with an outstanding choir whose director is a great baritone soloist. And WVC has a real genuine pipe organ!
Important events are the spring and fall rummage sales which attract patrons from miles around. Recent sales have netted around $20,000 which is used in WVC programs and to support local and world charities. WVC is truly a community church!
Next Week's Program: The Story of the Pencil
President, Dave Hyman, will introduce Katie Weissenborn Vanoncini of the General Pencil Company who will talk about the history of pencils and may even get you doodling.
