This Week's Program:  How Did They Do it?

Our own (former) Navy Seal and President-Elect, Dave Hyman, will talk about the kind of training he had which made it possible for the Navy Seals to recently rescue pirate hostage, Captain Phillips.

Last  Week's Program:   (courtesy of Last Week Editor, Dean Babcock)

International Chair Ken Broome introduced Kathy Armstrong and Judy Ortung of the League of Woman Voters.  The League is a grass roots organization that helps educate the voting public on candidates and issues.  In each election the local chapters then study the issues and assume an advocac y role which is communicated up to the appropriate League level, depending on the scope of the election, and then look for a consensus.  They then communicate their position by the written and broadcast word.

They discussed the issues in the May 19 election and gave valuable background on the state’s fiscal problems.  They went over the initiatives and discussed the pros and cons of each one.  There was intense interest by the members and many pertinent questions.

The ladies may be reached through karmstro@conncoll.edu.

Next Week's Program:  EVENING MEETING AT MOUNTAIN HOUSE RESTAURANT AT 6PM

We will meet at the Mountain House Restaurant.  Family, friends and prospective members are welcome.  Please let Dave Hyman (dave@epcatering.com) if you are coming and with how many guests.  Appetizers and no host bar.  Please bring lightly used clothing and non-perishable food donations for the St. Francis Center.  Please consider staying for dinner as a way of thanking the restaurant for their support of Taste of Woodside.  Check out their website for directions and their offerings.  http://www.themountainhouse.com/
