This Week's Program:   Upcoming Election Issues

Ken Broome will introduce a speaker from the League of Women Voters who will talk about the upcoming election issues.

Last  Week's Program:   (courtesy of Last Week Editor, Dean Babcock)

It has been quite a while since we met in Woodside’s charming Independence Hall.  Nice place! Ken Hayes, architect extraordinaire, introduced Jackie Young, the town’s new Director of Planning.  She was raised in Fairport, upstate New York.  She obtained her urban planning education at San Jose State University and is now a member of the American Institute of Certified Planning.

Jackie is an advocate for advanced planning and regional planning. She worked in Campbell on modernizing records. Her work in Woodside involves updating the general plan, setting up a data management system and a records retention policy.

Jackie is also involved in the preservation of historical buildings, developing a history of the town and developing a building code for fire safety.

There were many questions from club members..  You may contact Jackie by email at jyoung@woodsidetown.org.

Next Week's Program:   How Did They Do It?

Our own (former) Navy Seal and President-Elect, Dave Hyman, will talk about the kind of training he had which made it possible for the Navy Seals to recently rescue pirate hostage, Captain Phillips, by picking off three pirates at night with only three bullets.

Club News: We have another new member, Jim Sanderson, of "Upper" Woodside.  Jim is a neighbor of Ken Broome's and has already jumped in with both feet.  Welcome, Jim!  When was the last time you looked at the Rotary website?  Try this link for an interesting article on a collaboration on water projects.  http://www.rotary.org/en/MediaAndNews/News/Pages/090318_news_H2Ocollab.aspx
