This Week's Program:  President-Elect, Dave Hyman will share his experience at the district, Presidents in Training (PETS) program this past weekend.

Last  Week's Program:   (courtesy of Last Week Editor, Dean Babcock)  President elect David Hyman introduced his friend Mike Chicas of the Belmont Police Department who was accompanied by his boss, Detective Dan Friedman.  Mike was also accompanied by Nitro, a six year old German Shepherd who was born in the Czech Republic and trained in Germany.
Mike and Nitro are a K-9 team and are called to locations where burglaries or attacks are suspected.  Mike introduced us to Nitro by showing us how well he behaved and how the dog’s attention was always on Mike as he moved about the room.
We then went outside to see an exciting demonstration.  Dan put on a plaid shirt and arm protector and played the “bad guy.”  As Dan walked across the lawn, Nitro followed him with his eyes. Then Mike gave a command in German and the dog attacked Dan.  Mike called him off and Nitro stood ready to attack again.
Mike said ‘If I use my gun or my Taser I can’t call the projectile back, but I can call Nitro off if the suspect behaves.”  Together they make a valuable addition to the Belmont force.

Next Week's Program:  WE NEED SPEAKERS! DON'T ANY OF YOU KNOW ANY INTERESTING PEOPLE?
