This Week's Program:  What's Up in Woodside?

Woodside Assistant Town Manager, Kevin Brant, will talk about current issues in the town of Woodside.

Last  Week's Program:  (courtesy of Last Week Editor, Dean Babcock)  Past President Joan Fuetsch  introduced Patrick Hall to speak to us about micro-credit, or as it  is sometimes known – village banking.  Patrick was born in San Luis Obispo and graduated from University of Santa Clara.  He obtained his law degree from U.C. Hastings.  He is a member of the Rotary Club of Pacifica and very involved with micro-credit in Mexico and Central America.
Patrick told us of the district projects in Guayaquil and Quito, Ecuador and the new project starting in Guatemala with the Rotary Club of Guatemala City Oeste in conjunction with Namaste Guatamaya.  This project involves business development as well as micro-credit.
Namaste Guatamaya works to reduce poverty in Guatamala and Southern Mexico by financing women with small loans and helping them to start small businesses such as weaving clothes or quilts, raising poultry or cooking tortillas to sell in the market place.
Patrick says $1,000 dollars will help 5 families in Mesoamerica escape from poverty.  For more information on how you can help, contact Patrick at pthlaw@aol.com or call him at (650 359-2996.

Next Week's Program:  The K-9 Patrol

Mike Chicas from the Belmont Police Department will visit with his K-9 companion and talk about the dog's duties and handling.
