Guests are welcome!

This Week's Program:  Christmas in Guatemala Past President, Webmaster and Newsletter Editor, Joan Fuetsch, needed to fill this space so she will show a few photos of Christmas and New Years in Antigua, Guatemala.  Lots of heartwarming stories punctuated by violence and tragedy.

Last  Week's Program:   (courtesy of Last Week Editor, Dean Babcock) Please note that the last meeting was December 17th due to the holidays.  Our speaker was honorary member Sue Bennett.  She presented a slide show with charming pictures of the school kids in Bali.  The captions were in Balinese.  By trying to sound out the words your reporter realized that many of the words were actually Dutch!  Sue told us that the future of Bali depends on the education of the children. She mentioned that $70 covers the  school expenses for 80 kids.  Our club and the Rotary Club of Ubud help to fund them.  Prime among the problems are the economy, geography, the culture and  transportation. There are 200 languages in use in Bali. Most of the people are Hindu and there is some discrimination against non-Muslims.  Eighty per cent of the population is in Djakarta.  Our hats are off to Sue and Don for their dedication to the school kids!

Next Week's Program:   THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK.

Club NewsInaguration of the Riecken Foundation library in Xolsacmalja, Totonicapan, Guatemala will take place during the last week of March.  If you are interested in attending please let you editor know.  Our club has provided all the books and educational materials.
